Sambal goreng telur: eggs in spicy Tomatoblend sauce

  1. 8 eggs, boiled and peeled
  2. 2 shallots, finely chopped
  3. 1 clove of garlic, pressed or finely chopped
  4. 2 to 3 tbsp sambal chilli paste
  5. 2 to 3 tbsp sweet soya sauce
  6. 1 pot Tomato Blend
  7. dash of sunflower oil for frying


1. Heat a little sunflower oil in a pan.
2. Gently fry the shallots until soft.
3. Add the garlic and the sambal and fry for another three minutes.
4. Pour the Tomato Blend in the pan.
5. Bring to the boil.
6. Turn the heat to low and add the eggs.
7. Warm the eggs in the sauce for six minutes.

Serve as a snack, as part of an Indonesian rice table, or as a vegetarian dish with rice and green beans.
